# AI assistants (MCP)

> Connect Claude, Cursor or any MCP client to live 40 Acres data

Ask your AI assistant about 40 Acres and get answers from live data: vault APYs, borrow stats, voting pools, the marketplace, the leaderboard and any wallet's positions.

The 40 Acres MCP server is a public, read-only [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server. You add one URL to your AI client. No account, no API key, no wallet connection.

>
> The server is **read-only**. It can't build, sign or send transactions, so it can't move funds. If you ask it to repay a loan or vote, your assistant will say it can't.

## Connect your assistant

**Claude (web and desktop)**

**1. Open connectors**

In [claude.ai](https://claude.ai) or the Claude desktop app, go to **Settings** → **Connectors**.

**2. Add a custom connector**

Click **Add custom connector**. Name it `40acres` and paste the URL:

Leave the authentication settings empty.

**3. Turn it on in a chat**

In a new chat, open the tools menu and make sure **40acres** is enabled. Then ask a question.

**Claude Code**

Run this once in your terminal:

Start `claude` and ask a question. Run `/mcp` to check the server is connected.

**Cursor**

Add the server to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (one project):

Open **Settings** → **MCP** and check that **40acres** shows as enabled.

Use it from Copilot Chat in **Agent** mode.

**Other clients**

Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP works: paste `https://mcp.40acres.finance/mcp` and skip authentication.

If your client only runs local (stdio) servers, bridge it with `mcp-remote`:

## What you can ask

You don't need to know the tool names. Ask in plain language and your assistant picks the right tools.

* "What's the best vault APY on 40 Acres right now?"
* "How has the Aero USDC vault APY moved over the last 30 days?"
* "How much is borrowed on Hydrex, and how much liquidity is left?"
* "What are the top voting pools on Aero?"

* "Who's top of the Aero leaderboard this epoch?"
* "Show me the positions of 0x…, and what their sAERO stakes have earned but not claimed yet."

## Available data

The server exposes 18 tools. Every answer comes with an `asOf` timestamp so you know how fresh it is.

| **Protocol stats** | Total supplied, total borrowed, available liquidity, average vault APY, last epoch's rewards, vault utilization |
| **Prices** | The USD prices 40 Acres uses for protocol tokens and base assets |
| **Borrowers** | Average loan-to-value and number of borrowers per protocol |
| **Vaults** | USDC vault APYs and deposits, daily APY history over 7, 30 or 90 days, and Merkl incentive campaigns |
| **Voting** | Voting pools with their APR, and the APR earned by 40 Acres-managed votes epoch by epoch |
| **Marketplace** | veNFTs listed for sale (newest or cheapest) and recent sales |
| **Leaderboard** | Top-earning positions of the latest epoch, ranked by APR |
| **Wallets** | A wallet's portfolio accounts, loans and collateral, the history of each position, and its lender position in a vault |
| **sAERO stakes** | Which pools a stake allocates to, and the rewards it has earned but not claimed yet |
| **Announcements** | The latest official 40 Acres announcements |

Wallet data is public on-chain data. You can look up any address, not only your own.

## Limits

* **Rate limit:** 60 tool calls per minute per IP address. Over the limit, your assistant gets a "retry in N seconds" message.
* **Freshness:** answers are cached for 30 seconds (prices, stats) up to 10 minutes (history, leaderboard).
* **Units:** USD and token amounts are plain numbers, rates are percentages (`12.4` means 12.4%), times are UTC.

> AI assistants can misread data or get numbers wrong. Check figures in the [40 Acres app](https://app.40acres.finance) before you make a financial decision.

## FAQ

> **Do I need to connect my wallet or share a private key?**
>
> No. The server never asks for a wallet, a signature or a key. To look up positions, give your assistant a public wallet address.

> **Can the assistant borrow, repay or vote for me?**
>
> No. The server is read-only. Use the [40 Acres app](https://app.40acres.finance) for any transaction.

> **Does it cost anything?**
>
> The server is free. Your AI client's own plan and limits still apply.

> **My assistant says a tool is temporarily unavailable**
>
> A data source behind 40 Acres didn't answer in time. Wait a minute and ask again.
